STAR TEST Scores and What it Means

The STAR TEST is a standardized test that students take in the second semester.  This test determines if you need to take a math and/or reading intervention class.  This test must be taken seriously.  

In high school, if you score Below Basic (BB) or Far Below Basic (FBB) in reading or math you are assigned a reading and/or math intervention class.  If you pass those classes you will earn credit, but these classes do not count towards the required classes needed in order to graduate.  Therefore you will be behind.  In middle school if you score Below Basic or Far Below Basic you have to take either a  reading or math intervention class and are not eligible for an elective.  

The Classifications for STAR TEST are as follows: 

Advanced--Scoring at above grade level (1 year above) 
Proficient--Scoring on grade level  
Basic--Scoring below grade level (1 year below)
Below Basic--Scoring below grade level (2 grade levels below)
Far Below Basic--Scoring below grade level (3 grade levels below)
